Dermal Filler side effects

Very common side effects include bruising, swelling, redness, tenderness and slight bleeding at the injection sites. Most of these effects will disappear almost immediately or over 24 – 48 hours. Bruises, however, can last a week or slightly longer if you are unlucky.

Very rare side effects can be

  • Migration – When the filler can move away from the intended treatment area

  • Allergy – This can be an acute anaphylaxis reaction or a delayed reaction.

  • Nodules – The filler may form lumps under the skin

  • Infection

  • Vascular Occlusion – This occurs when the filler blocks or puts pressure on a blood vessel which can lead to tissue death (necrosis), and even possibly permanent blindness.

At South Hams Aesthetics we are trained to deal with medical emergencies and carry appropriate medications in case of a severe and adverse reaction.

We also always offer post treatment follow up and care.
